School Direct

If you would like to ‘train on the job’ then this is a route that may be suited to you. You would be selected by a school who works in partnership with a university. This programme runs for 1 year and while you will spend the majority of your time at the school, you will get the chance to spend some time in a primary school and complete a second placement in a local secondary school. During your placement at the school you will be supported by a team of experienced teachers and mentors. The school direct course our school follows will result in both PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate in Education) and QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) for successful candidates. You will be eligible to apply for a training bursary can apply for financial support (such as a student loan) – more information is available on the UCAS Teacher Training Website.

From September 2016 CTC will be working and recruiting within the following alliances to start training in September 2017:

Troops to Teachers

CTC is a Lead Delivery school on the T2T programme which is spearheaded by Brighton University. It is a two year course for non-graduates. You will earn a salary while you train and for successful candidates this will lead to a degree qualification and QTS. Over the course of the two years you will spend 4 days a week in school and one day week will be spent on your university training. PGCE Placements

The CTC offer a number of PGCE placements throughout the year. We currently have ITT’s from the following universities:

  • University of Birmingham
  • Birmingham City University
  • Staffordshire University
  • University of Warwick
  • University of Wolverhampton
